What is a Tin Cup Challenger?

Tin Cup Challengers are community leaders who commit to a gift of $1,500 or more to support our entire Teton Valley nonprofit community. This is done by providing a matching grant that inspires widespread community support during our six-week Giving Period every summer.

The Challenger fund also supports the Community Foundation's Competitive Grant Program, Youth Philanthropy, and Nonprofit Workshops for board and staff.

How It Works

Modeled after Old Bill's Fun Run, the Tin Cup Challenge is designed to maximize collaborative community impact. The annual campaign strengthens the tremendous work of Teton Valley's nonprofits, encourages everyone to give, and fosters the spirit of generosity.

  • Challengers pledge a matching gift during the Giving Period
  • Community members donate to participating nonprofits
  • Challenger funds match donations to amplify every gift
  • Culminates in the Tin Cup Challenge Event Day — always the 3rd Saturday in July
Being a Tin Cup Challenger is just one way to support our nonprofits. One of Jean's favorite memories from volunteering at the Tin Cup booth was a grade schooler pouring out $10, his entire piggy bank, and deciding with his dad to give to causes like the Animal Shelter and Food Pantry. In that moment, he learned the value of philanthropy.

There are many ways to support the valley's nonprofits — donate your time, give money, or get involved. Everyone can make a difference in their own way.
